Investly app

Investly is an investing app that allows you to invest through guided investing. By asking you a few questions and matching you to a portfolio, we take care of time-consuming tasks like buying, finding, and managing your investments. Download Investly from the App Store and Play Store.

It’s free to download Investly, but there are fees associated with investing with Investly.

General

You can get in touch with the Investly Support team through our in-app chat feature! Navigate to the chat icon at the bottom of the screen and send a message. From there, you can contact us for assistance, and a member of our team will reach out to you within the next four business hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (ET), Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

You cannot directly trade and buy stocks on Investly, but when you answer our risk profile questionnaire, we may match you to a portfolio that invests in a fund that holds stocks.

With managed accounts, you give someone else (in this case, Investly) authority to make investment decisions for you. We will supervise and direct your investments based on your goals and risk tolerance, so you can relax while we do all the heavy lifting!

With self-directed investment accounts, you take full control of your investments, rather than giving authority to someone else. You pick and choose what you want to invest your money in, like stocks, bonds, ETF, etc., completing the trades on your own. 

There is no minimum age to use the app, but to open an investment account, you must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your province or territory. If you're not of minimum age yet, you can still take advantage of the resources and articles we offer in the app to learn more about investing. Once you do turn the minimum age, you already have valuable knowledge that you can use when opening your first investment account.

To open an investment account with Investly, you must be a Canadian resident. However, if you’re not a Canadian resident, you can still take advantage of the resources and articles we offer in the app to learn more about investing.

Yes, you can! As of now, you can open one Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA), one First Home Savings Account (FHSA) and up to four non-registered accounts.

Currently, Investly supports Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) First Home Savings Account (FHSAs) and non-registered accounts. However, we’ll be offering some additional accounts, including Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), in the future! 

Yes, you can!

You do need to be mindful of your contribution limits to registered accounts like the Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA), and First Home Savings Account (FHSA) Investly offers, but you can open multiple TFSA and FHSA accounts across different financial institutions.

You must have a Canadian phone number to open an investment account. However, you can open an Investly profile and use it as a learning resource with just an e-mail!

Registered/ Portfolio

When you open an investment account with Investly, you give us authority to manage your investments for you. We’ll put your money to work in the most appropriate funds, based on your goals and risk tolerance.

If you’re considering changing the portfolio that your account is set to, send us a message via in-app chat and a member of our team will reach out to you within the next four business hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (ET), Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.  You can find the chat support feature by navigating to the chat icon on the bottom right of your screen. 

For any questions regarding your portfolio performance, contact us through our in-app chat feature! You can find the chat support feature by navigating to the chat icon on the bottom right of your screen and send us a message.

If there are any inconsistencies in the answers you submitted on your Risk Profile Questionnaire (RPQ), you may be asked to redo the RPQ.  This is to ensure your answers are consistent so we can match you with the most suitable portfolio.

Your funds are invested for you in a portfolio that aligns with your risk profile, time horizon and personal financial circumstances.

When you set up an account, we ask you a series of questions to understand what your goals are, and how comfortable you are with risk, among other things. Based on your answers, we invest your money in a portfolio that suits you. 

There are two fees charged in our guided investing accounts: 1) the Investly account management fee of 0.35%, calculated on the assets invested with us, and 2) the MER fees associated with the funds used in your accounts (Fidelity All-in-One Funds).

These indirect (MER) fees are estimated to be between 0.35% to 0.39%, depending on the fund your account is invested in, and are subject to change over time.

The total portfolio level fees payable by you will range from approximately 0.70% to 0.74% of your account assets, exclusive of other applicable taxes.

Money Movement 

In order for your deposit to be processed, your identity must be verified and the portfolio in your account needs to be approved. Your deposit will then be processed and will be reflected in your account balance within one to five business days.

If there is additional action required for your deposit to be processed, look for a message from us in the Chat feature on the bottom right of the app, or a yellow banner on your account tile on the “Invest” tab. 

Withdrawals are processed within five business days, and we will update you through the in-app chat feature when your withdrawal has been processed.

Withdrawals from a First Home Savings Account (FHSA) requires an additional step, and we will contact you by in-app chat to confirm the details of your withdrawal and to keep you updated on your withdrawal request. 

Deposits can take anywhere from one to five business days to be reflected in your account balance.

If there is additional action required before your deposit can be processed, please look for a message in the chat feature on the bottom right of the app, or a yellow banner on your account tile on the “Invest” tab. 

Please send us a message through our in-app chat feature and we’ll be happy to assist you with this. It’s important to note cancelling recurring payments within five business days of the next payment date is done on a best-efforts basis.

We are working on making this process self-serve in the app as well! 

Please send us a message through our in-app chat feature, and we’ll be happy to provide you with details about the type of institutional account transfers we are currently able to support.

Navigate to the menu icon on the top left of the app and select “Payments.”

Here you will be able to view your one-time deposits, as well as your recurring deposits. 

Please see the directions below to initiate a withdrawal from a funded Investly account back to your linked bank account:

  1. Navigate to the "Invest" tab on the bottom of the app.
  2. Tap on the account you would like to withdraw from.
  3. Select “Withdraw.”
  4. Enter the amount you would like to withdraw, or toggle “Withdraw full amount” to “Yes” for a full withdrawal, and tap “Next.”
  5. Review your withdrawal details and click “Submit.”

It's important to note that withdrawals can take up to five business days to be processed.
